THE STUFF
“Let us take the stuff,” the boy said.
the sardines
the gear
the mast
the wooden box
the gaff
the harpoon
the stern
the club
the big
fish
take the sail
and the heavy lines
the boy
was made of
flattened, overlapping leaves
UP WITH THE SUNRISE
I
thought
maybe he will
come up with the moon. maybe
he will come up with the sunrise
But He
never changed his course
after the sun went down
he stood up and urinated
at the stars
GALANOS
1.)
The sea and the sky
They were both ga-
lanos
the two closed together
brought down heavy and slamming
broad rubbery in and out
and in again with jaws wide
2.)
slipped away to swallow
Come on, galano
3.)
I could have hurt them both badly
I bat with two hands
